Falling Strong (The Los Angeles chapters, 2032) & The Dreams (2046)
Towards the end of Falling Strong, Alice goes with her husband to live in Los Angeles. Each day, a driverless electric car arrives at their mansion in the hills, transporting Juan Pablo, Alice's appointed psychologist.
Just fourteen years after that, we find that all commercial airlines are battery powered, passports are no longer required. A valid R.P. document (Papier de Raison) and a facial scan is enough to be able to determine identity for long haul travel. That said, there are now some parts of Africa, Asia, America and Australasia that were and no longer are habitable. The European Union is on the verge of collapse and Scotland is a republic.
In 2046, all land vehicles are electric, including taxis, buses and trains. Most cars are driverless, but still have manual overrides in case of emergency. There is a tunnel connecting Scotland with Northern Ireland, and a train that can go from southern England to Belfast at super fast speeds.
Craziest of all though, explorations in neural pathways, telepathy and feeling within the ever expanding metaverse have now begun.

Tommaso's Choice (2051)
At the start of the story, gondolas have replaced the subway in New York City as the easiest (if not always the safest) way to get around. Venice, Italy no longer exists. Tommaso grew up in a houseboat on one of the numerous water colonies that grew up to replace the ancient city.
Alice Scott, now a concert pianist in the United States, is contacted via the neural pathways in the Dreamscape by Tommaso. He is in Rome at the Vatican where eugenics is starting to be practiced on weaker members of society - population control in extreme times.
He convinces Alice to come back to Italy to help him fight the rising tide of neo fascism. They travel via the Elon Musk inspired Skyloop - ultra fast pods attached to a giant loop encircling the entire planet.
